6/6/14: Quick visit to CZ wheels, the JDM wheel gurus.

(Article By: Jared Morgan)

When shopping for the right set of wheels, It can be hard to know who to go to to get the right set at the right price. I fortunately know the owner of CZ Wheels (based out of New Orleans) personally, Easton Oreman, which helped me make my decision. Not only does Easton source wheels straight from Japan including rare and retired JDM wheel sets, but once they arrive to his shop he can dissassemble and refinish every aspect of the wheel to make it into something unique and something to set your car apart from the rest. I personally have something in the works right now, and I'm quite excited to see the outcome. Let's look at some pictures, shall we?

Here we see my Amistad Dish wheels disassembled and getting ready for refinish.

A gorgeous set of Work Equips freshly refinished and ready for ship.

CZ's beauitul new CZ Elite lug nut sets now available for sale.

5/22/14: Hyper:low touches base with Nola Stunna: An interview featuring their photographer Matthew Bailey.

To many locals of the New Orleans area, aka: NOLA, there is one crew in particular that may gain the most recognition for prestige and groundbreaking builds. That crew is Nola Stunna. We were lucky enough to land a brief e-interview with their photographer Matthew Bailey, and We also got our hands on some of his photography work to showcase the crew. Enjoy.

-Jared:A while back I had the privilege of meeting up with you at a local spot for a photo of my Malibu (below) when I owned it. When I got the photo back I couldn't help but notice your attention to detail as far as editing goes. I'd go so far as to say you take pride in putting a lot of time into each picture. On average, how long does it take to make a picture "picture perfect?"

-Matt: In most cases I know exactly what I want to do with the photo once I take the shot and plan accordingly to save time. But on average, it takes around 2-3 hours to get the results I want out of a photo.

Jared of Hyper:low

-Jared: There's a lot of people claiming to be photographers this day and age. With cellphone apps that have easy to use filtration systems, what factors do you think separate the men from the boys?

-Matt: The best camera is the one that you have on you. Many aspiring photographers are convinced that getting the best equipment out there is the answer to taking your photography to the next level. This is not true. My idea of a great photographer is one that has achieved a signature style that when you see his work, you know who took the photo even before you've seen the name. That is why I do not use watermarks. The photo is my watermark. You must become so comfortable with your equipment that you can focus your energy on creating the image and not waste time fiddling with your gear. That will allow your creativity to shine through.

-Jared: Moving forward, as many know, you represent the local car club "Nola Stunna." The car crew itself seems to be heavy hitting as far as the amount as well as the types of cars that make up the crew. You being their official photographer, what would you say is Nola Stunna's main focus?

-Matt: Nola Stunna is just as much a close knit family as it is a car crew. Most of the members have grown up with each other since childhood and treat the newer members just the same. As a car crew, Nola Stunna's main focus would be to use peoples' interest in cars to help the community.

-Jared: Which Nola Stunna vehicles were the most pleasurable to shoot? Let's see some of those pictures specifically!

-Matt: The best cars to shoot are the ones where the lighting and scenery are just right. It is something you have to plan for in advance.

-Jared: So are there any future plans for the crew as far as events are concerned? I know there were a few installments to the "Cars and Vapes" meet series. Can we expect more of the same?

-Matt: Yes! 2014 is going to be a busy year for us. We have many events in the works and are working now to organize events for charity. As far as staying tuned, keep up with us via Instagram or Facebook for more information.

5/21/14: An announcement to all of our camber fiends: "Cambertires" are now a thing.

(article by: Jared Morgan)

So yes, you read that correctly. There are now tires created for camber. They have a conical shape and can guarantee full contact patch up to -4 degrees! Not only that, but they claim to have better performance and ride quality properties than normal tires. The prices range from 290-400 a pop, though. So it's questionable whether it's worth the extra cost. However, there's no doubt this is an innovative creation, and it could consequently start a wave of drastic changes in the tire industry. 5/20/14: Team NvUS: An interview with member Kevin Francipane.

A good friend of the Hyper:Low crew and member/photographer of Team NvUS, Kevin Francipane, agreed to do an E-interview with us to give us the scoop on NvUS and his build, and we couldn't be more stoked on it. Below is the interview and some stunning photographs to match. Enjoy. (Interview conducted by: Jared Morgan; All photography by: Kevin Francipane.)

-Jared: I've noticed a large amount of NvUS members on social networking like Instagram lately. Team NvUS seems to be pretty big! Is it nationwide? What does Team NvUS look for as far as the types of cars and types of people they allow in?

-Kevin: NvUS is actually international, with chapters in countries such as Japan, El Salvador, Mexico, Canada, and Dominican Republic. There are also Chapters from the West Coast, where the team originated, all the way to the East Coast. The Louisiana Chapter was founded early this year by Mike Quinones, a former member of the Florida Chapter. Mike and his wife left Jacksonville and relocated to New Orleans for work. Mike and I both frequent a 9th generation civic specific forum (9thcivic.com). He contacted me through the forum's private messaging system and said he had just moved to the area. So we started hanging out and going to some of the local car meets. After hanging out a few times, Mike asked if I’d be interested in starting an NvUS chapter in Louisiana. He explained how close the Florida chapter was and the friendships he made. Needless to say, I agreed. I’d followed a few NvUS builds that really caught my eye and thought it’d be cool to be a part of the team. As for what NvUS looks for, NvUS is an Import/Euro club based on quality over quantity in the car and the person.

-Jared:The future of the Louisiana chapter, are there any big plans? I was fortunate enough to attend a meet you guys put on at Lafreniere Park, are there more events in the works that we can look forward to?

-Kevin: Mike and I would like to continually expand; we’ve always got our eyes open looking for clean cars with down to earth owners. As for events, we’d like to continue to have meets when there’s a long stretch between big shows or other big meets. That way the scene doesn’t become stagnant and it gives everyone an opportunity to show off their builds.

-Jared: Where can fans keep up with Team NvUS as far as the latest photography and coverage?

-Kevin: NvUS does have a Facebook page that people can "like" and stay updated with what’s going on throughout all the NvUS chapters: https://www.facebook.com/TeamNVUS
The Louisiana Chapter also has a page: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Nvus-Louisiana-La/254961614683060

-Jared: Photography seems to be a major interest for you, Kevin. All of the photos in this feature are from your portfolio, and I'd say theyre pretty impressive. Do you plan on making a career out of photography? Or will it remain simply a hobby and a way to pass the time?

-Kevin: Although I am very interested in photography, I am also very amateur. I'm currently an Engineer in the Oil Field and I use photography as an opportunity to have some sort of creative outlet and also incorporate something that I love. To turn it into a career would take away from that sense of freedom and I fear that I would eventual burn myself out. It’s also a great way to interact and meet people within the car community because face it, everyone likes seeing pictures of their car show up on the internet from meets or shows.

-Jared: Your Civic is very simplistic yet unique. I love it. The Advans do a lot for the car, in my opinion. Not many opt for the 3 spoke designs these days! What future plans do you have for the car?

-Kevin: I’ve always been a fan of the Advan SA3Rs and when I had the opportunity to purchase a set I wanted them to be the center of my build. Keeping the wheels the focal point of the car has fueled the simplistic nature of my build. My biggest future plan is to pay the car off so I’m not scared to really dive into the build and to have the Advans professionally refinished as they are starting to show their age. I’d also like to outfit the K24z7 with a Kraftwerks Supercharger and supporting mods while keeping the aesthetics of the build simple.

-Jared: Here's your chance to say anything else that we may not have covered that you'd like to tell the public. Feel free to discuss any specifications of your car, shoutouts, etc.

-Kevin: I just want to shout out my cousin Dustin Montalbano and Mike Quinones, they’re pretty much the two I turn to when it comes to car advice and opinions. You can check out their builds out on Instagram @altezza165 and @slushiest_mj.
